This was a course assigned just after we started to be able to go back to the campus after the COVID19 lockdowns had ended, so it was still pretty empty and we weren&#8217;t allowed large gatherings, so me and a few of my friends went out into the woods to film the movie. I wrote the script and was behind the camera, while my friends were the two characters shown in the film. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large wp-duotone-unset-1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"492\" src=\"http:\/\/matthosdarkstorm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-3-1024x492.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-125\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bretbauslaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-3-1024x492.png 1024w, https:\/\/bretbauslaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-3-300x144.png 300w, https:\/\/bretbauslaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-3-768x369.png 768w, https:\/\/bretbauslaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-3.png 1425w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I however tend to lean towards the more fantastical when I write stories, so I tried to combine this with the required &#8220;mundane&#8221; topic of the assignment. I ultimately decided on finding a sword in the woods and playing with it, only for it to be revealed to be a large stick. I liked this idea as it takes from a feeling many people have had when hiking in the woods and finding a large stick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large wp-duotone-unset-2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"508\" src=\"http:\/\/matthosdarkstorm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-4-1024x508.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-126\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bretbauslaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-4-1024x508.png 1024w, https:\/\/bretbauslaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-4-300x149.png 300w, https:\/\/bretbauslaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-4-768x381.png 768w, https:\/\/bretbauslaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/image-4.png 1453w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Initially I was reluctant to get people over to film, especially because I would want people to not wear masks so we can see their facial expressions. I tried a version of the film where I played the main character while my sister played the side character. This ultimately was pretty boring as I was required, as the guidelines of the assignment, that I was the one behind the camera every time. Therefore I couldn&#8217;t use interesting camera movement and the entire thing was pretty stale<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Blade - IAT 202 Bret\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z30bZxdesCw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reflection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I really enjoyed the final product of this assignment.
