Process
When I worked at the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association, my job was to create many different graphic design and website design projects for various clients the company was assisting. One company was the restaurant Bozzini’s. The client wanted a brand new take out menu design updated with new prices and items.

The first large hurdle was that the company did not have any electronic version of their current menu. Because of this, I chose to just completely redo the menu from scratch in Photoshop and Illustrator, while keeping some of the parts of the design that the owner liked and changing the parts they didn’t. It was an iterative process that required a lot of back and forth between the clients and I.
The first design I came up with was similar to what the final design would be, except with one large difference. This page was 3 folds wide instead of 4. While this was more resource efficient in terms of printing cost, it had a lot of items cramped and the catering menu would have to be separate.

We ultimately decided that I would redesign the menu with a 4th fold and it would be printed on wider paper.
Reflection
This was one of the more interesting projects I have done in Graphic Design. I had never made a menu before and it was interesting trying to fit so many different items into the same page without it being difficult to read. It also was one of the first projects I made that was heavily back and forth with brainstorming different designs and asking what works and what doesn’t, to ultimately come to a final product that the client was happy with.
